Bobolink
Scientific: Dolichonyx oryzivorus
Norwegian:
Bobolink
The Bobolink is the 6-8 inches and lives in open grasslands with bare ground for foraging. The male during mating is black underneath and white on the back - the only American bird with that coloring style. After mating the male looks very similar to the female. They migrate about 6200 miles every spring and fall. They build their nest in depressions on ground near grass clumps. They eat seeds and insects. The female is similar to a Red-winged Blackbird female, but is lighter and has a shorter bill.
