Dark-eyed Junco

The Dark-eyed Junco is a medium-sized sparrow at 5-7" and is seen at bases of trees and below bird feeders. They are plentiful in the winter. They make nests of grasses and roots, and the nests are found on the ground, ledges, or in a tree. They eat seeds on the ground.
