Eastern Kingbird
Scientific: Tyrannus tyrannus
Norwegian: Østkongetyrann
The Eastern Kingbird is 8-9 inches and lives in open fields near water and woods. They are summer residents and migrate to South America. They nest in trees and eat all kinds of insects. However, in South America they eat mostly fruit. They have a white-tipped tail. When seen flying from below you notice the all white bird, except for the black tail with the white edge. A similar bird is the Eastern Phoebe, however, the Eastern Phoebe is smaller and the underside is gray instead of white.
