The Great Blue Heron is the largest North America heron at around 50 tall and a 6.3 feet wingspan. However, they still only weigh 5-6 pounds. They are found in shallow water and have a dagger-like bill that strikes quickly at prey. They nest in trees. They hunt day or night and eat fish, frogs, salamanders, lizards, snakes, crawfish, and insects. They live in both fresh and saltwater habitats.
