Green Heron
Scientific: Butorides virescens
Norwegian: Grønnrygghegre
The Green Heron lives in marshy areas and is a summer resident of our trails. They are 16-18 inches and nest in small shrubs and trees over the water. They eat small fish and many times are seen dropping bait onto the water.
