Killdeer

The Killdeer is 10 inches and lives near a shoreline. stream, or pond and in open areas. They are rare winter resident. They nest on the ground in shallow depressions. They eat aquatic crustaceans, earthworms, and insects. The light orange top of tail is only seen during flight.
