Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is a 7-8 inch woodpecker seen in coniferous and deciduous forests, orchards, and woodlots. They resides here year round and build gourd-shaped nests in excavated holes of live or dead tree. They eats insects trapped in the sap of trees and suet from birdfeeders in winter.
